Premiere in Ticino: Our first management seminar in the network

Anyone who runs a movement centre or physiotherapy practice knows that working with patients is one thing - being a manager is another. Personnel issues, increasing employee expectations and organisational tasks take up a lot of time. There is often little room for personal development as a manager in everyday life.
News from the network

This is exactly where our first management seminar in Ticino came in - an offer specifically for practice managers in our network.

Why leadership skills are crucial in physiotherapy

The shortage of skilled labour poses major challenges for many practices. Employees today want to be managed not only professionally, but also on a personal level. This is a balancing act for managers: they are both the point of contact for their team and have to manage the practice economically. The key question is therefore: How can employees enjoy coming to work? Good leadership means providing orientation, creating trust, establishing a healthy feedback culture and mastering the balance between praise and criticism. Those who provide the right impetus will retain their team in the long term and strengthen the practice.

Tools that are directly applicable

The seminar was not about dry theory, but about specific questions from everyday practice. The focus was on various topics such as conflict management, sources of authority, management by objectives and the balance between closeness and distance. The role of language was also examined in depth - how words and formulations have an effect and what responsibility is associated with them. A highlight for the participants was the comprehensive "Survival Package", a handbook with over 100 pages of practical tools - from the three-part "I" message for correcting misbehaviour to the ideal corrective conversation.

Voices from the seminar

Lorenzo Trimboli, head of the Centro Specialisti della Salute centre, described the seminar as "really useful, inspiring and directly applicable". Others emphasised how relieving it was to see colleagues struggling with almost identical challenges. The dialogue between colleagues was felt to be just as important as the professional input - a real learning experience.

Noticeably more peace and quiet in everyday life

Those who strengthen their leadership skills in physiotherapy will experience more composure in their day-to-day work. Decisions are easier to make, processes run more smoothly and the practice gains stability. In the event of particular challenges, there is the possibility of a joint exchange: practice owners from different locations network, exchange experiences and benefit from each other.

Outlook: Leadership as a living culture

The première showed how great the interest in practical training is. Now it is important to keep what has been learnt alive - through continuous practice and regular exchanges in our managers' meetings. In this way, knowledge is not only collected, but also becomes an integral part of our management culture.

Further seminars are already being planned, including on the topics of staff retention in physiotherapy, modern communication and digital tools for practice organisation. Our goal remains clear: to strengthen managers in the network so that they have more energy for the essentials - the patients.
