Succession at Physiotherapie Seen AG: 29 years of building up the practice come to fruition

What remains of a lifetime’s work when one’s time as a practice owner is drawing to a close? For Barbara Wirth, the answer is clear: the team and the certainty that things will continue to go well.

Physiotherapie Seen AG / Barbara Wirth

For 29 years, Barbara Wirth has been the Physiotherapy Seen Ltd Run as an independent business in Winterthur. Now it’s time for a succession. Not a fresh start, but a handover that will stand the test of time.

A succession built on trust

It was clear to Barbara Wirth from the outset what really mattered. «From the very beginning, there was a very respectful approach, treating each other as equals,» she says, describing her impressions. SPP understood how important her team was to her, because ensuring a smooth transition was her top priority.

What makes Physiotherapie Seen AG special

Three things characterise the practice:

  • The treatment. Tailored to the individual needs of each patient, with a very diverse patient population of all ages.
  • The team. Students, trainee physiotherapists and experienced colleagues work side by side and learn from one another through regular interaction.
  • Its proximity to the ZHAW. By training students, the practice remains closely aligned with the latest findings and developments in professional policy.

At Physiotherapie Seen AG, team spirit and cohesion are not just empty words. Fixed office hours, in-house training, a quality circle and regular team events ensure that these values remain a tangible part of everyday life.

The moment that made all the difference

Right from their very first conversation, Barbara Wirth realised just how seriously the SPP founders were taking the Swiss healthcare system and how they had a clear vision of how outpatient physiotherapy could survive in the long term; she also appreciated their 29 years of self-employment, which she describes as ‘indescribably wonderful’. It felt like a partnership right from the start.

What’s coming up next

Barbara Wirth will remain active within the company. Her aim is to hand over the accounts once and for all, and to train the future site manager, the training coordinator and the secretarial staff so thoroughly that she can take early retirement at the end of 2027 with peace of mind, knowing she has done the best she can for her team.
